Amine Afia
- Exited technical founder with an AI infrastructure background. Built his first computers out of e-waste as a kid in Morocco, studied applied math and CS, then built sovereign-scale clouds at SAP and the core platform at Celonis. Co-founded Blocktorch as CTO, sold it to thirdweb and ran engineering there with a small team that outbuilt teams many times its size.
- Owns focal's tech and AI stack end to end, which at focal means treating the firm itself as the model: every signal is an input, every decision a label, every outcome a delayed reward. He is building focalOS, the learning system behind focal: an autonomous sourcing engine that quantifies every signal we can reach, agent swarms and rankers trained on every decision we make, and a self-improving codebase on our own harness.
- Speaks five languages, starts every day in the gym and is training for Hyrox competitions with his better half. Hasn't gone a day without building something since the e-waste years, and doesn't plan to start.
