Why focal exists

Every founding story starts with a first believer. Ours did too.

Daniel spent his twenties building ad-tech companies from day one through exit. Pascal spent his advising the world's biggest companies at BCG, then concluded that slides don't build companies, founders do. When we set out to build our own firm, we knew exactly which check we wanted to write: the first one. The one that turns a plan into a company.

We named the firm focal because we believe focus is a superpower. We only do first rounds. We lead them. We keep the portfolio concentrated, about ten new investments a year, so every founder gets all of us.

We stay humble about how much value any investor truly adds beyond the check and the hours. You build the company. Our job is to be the call you make first, in the good moments and the hard ones, and to pick up.
